I need help!
CyberMentors is all about young people helping and supporting each other online.
If you're under 18 and being bullied, are feeling a bit low, or are maybe troubled by something and you're not sure what to do or who to talk to, then CyberMentors is where you can go for help. It doesn't matter how big or small you think the problem is, or whether you're being targeted online or offline, CyberMentors are here to listen and support you.
The best thing about it is that the CyberMentors are young people too. It's never easy talking about bullying, or all the other issues you may be experiencing right now, but many young people have told us that they would prefer to speak to another young person if they could. That's why CyberMentors are young people like you, who have been specially trained by us and are volunteering their time online to help you.
So if you want to see what our site is about and chat to someone online in a safe and fun environment then please log on to cybermentors.org.uk
It's also important however, that you try talk to your parents, guardian or a teacher if you can, as they may be best placed to support you further. -
What can I do to help?
If you like the sound of what we are doing to help young people and you would like to get involved, here are a few ideas:
Get trained as a CyberMentor
Register your interest to be trained as a CyberMentor through the following link: Want 2 B A CyberMentor?
Join our Young People’s Advisory Group
We’re always looking for young people to join our YPAG. As a member of our YPAG you will be asked to attend and participate in focus groups, debates, media activities (such as filming) and feedback sessions on Beatbullying programmes, campaigns and all our work, to give input and contribute to the overall success of Beatbullying. This is open to all CyberMentors aged 11-25. If you are interested, please email Joel Adebayo.
Get a blue wristband
One of the clearest ways to show your support! You can buy individual blue wristbands in our shop or you could buy a pack and share them with your mates.
Get social with us
We have a Beatbullying and a CyberMentors Facebook page, so why not join our groups and get regular updates of what we’re up to. We are also on Twitter - join our network of re-tweeters!
Fundraise for us
Got a cool idea for a sponsored swim/cycle/silence/run(walk!)? Or fancy doing something else for charity - why not check out our fundraising pack and make a difference by helping BB?
Sign Up for The Big March 2012
Be the first to join our latest, international campaign to keep children safe across the world. -
Get your school or youth group involved
Shouldn’t everyone in your school be wearing a Beatbullying wristband? Get your teachers on it!
Want to be a CyberMentor? Think your friends would be good CyberMentors too? Then why not get CyberMentors in your school? Tell your teachers at school or a youth leader at your club about CyberMentors and let them know why you want to be a CyberMentor, and the benefits you, others, and your school/group will get from it.
Once they are interested they can contact Laura Smart (or any other Beatbullying staff member) to have a chat about the programme, dates and times, students involved, costs, and the benefits of being involved! Just get them to email info@beatbullying.org for a chat, and why not show them the website!
If you fancy joining our Big March, maybe your whole school would like to? Luckily, they can - teachers can sign up the whole school here (and don’t worry, we won't count you twice - so you can still sign up yourself!). -
Get your school or youth group to fundraise!
We hugely appreciate donations to help us to continue to do what we do. In the past, we’ve had scouts and girl guide groups holding cake sales (selling blue cakes!), schools doing sponsored events and “wear something blue to school” days, but there are millions of ideas - big or small your contribution will enable us continue to provide our bullying prevention and support work, helping the hundreds of thousands of young people we work with.
Here are some ideas to get you started!
